Ethical issues in qualitative research

Ethical review boards and committees are increasingly influential in defining research ethics, but this does not mean that researchers whose projects have been approved by such committees are exempt from having to make continuous and sometimes unanticipated ethical decisions during the actual research process. Qualitative researchers need to reflect on, and manage, ethical dilemmas both when planning and carrying out research and when presenting findings to the public. This session encourages submissions addressing different aspects of ethical issues and challenges in qualitative research.

Session organizer: Anne Ryen, Department of Sociology and Social Work, University of Agder, Norway.

The session is scheduled as number 25.
