In recent years the qualitative analysis of crime, punishment, and social control has become a very lively field of study. These sessions will chart the analytical and methodological creativity of this scholarly movement by assembling papers on a variety of qualitative studies of sociological criminology and its methodological debates. What direction will qualitative research in this field take? What lessons can be drawn from the various projects? These and other issues will be discussed.
